Don’t judge a book by its cover; judge it by its author headshot! I was very lucky recently to meet and photograph a very interesting author other day in need of a headshot for her upcoming book. Ellen Ulmer is a licensed professional counselor from right here in the Pittsburgh area. Her new book, From the Inside Out: Therapists’ Confessions of Courage, Strength, and Hope is sure to be a hit! Ellen collaborated with 10 other professionals to write what she hopes will be a motivational smash.
Every author needs a great headshot. You need it for the book. You need for advertising. Every piece of media in promotion of your work will be accompanied by your author headshot, so make sure it’s a good one. Ellen stopped by my home studio looking great. I offer packages that include hair and/or makeup; here you can see the excellent makeup work by Evelyn Rose beauty. A seasoned actress as well, Ellen was excellent in front of a camera. She was game for plenty of poses and clothing changes. Her positive attitude and energy made for a fun and successful shoot – my favorite kind!
Because Ellen is a triple threat – author, therapist, actress – her author headshot should come in handy for more than just book covers. A good headshot lends itself well to professional websites, resumes, business cards, and more. Look for Ellen’s new book later this year!
